Chordates vs non-chordates
Look inside a transparent body and compare the five key differences between chordates and non-chordates (NCERT Table 4.1).
What to notice
In chordates the nerve cord is dorsal and the heart ventral — the reverse of non-chordates.
Key relation
Chordate hallmark: notochord + dorsal hollow nerve cord + pharyngeal gill slits
Try this
Switch between the two plans while highlighting the nervous system.
What you can change
- Body plan: choose Chordate, Non-chordate
- Highlight: choose Notochord, Central nervous system, Pharynx, Heart, Post-anal part (tail)
