Nephron: filtration and reabsorption
Trace filtrate from the glomerulus through the tubule. Nearly all of it is reabsorbed.
What to notice
About 99% of the filtrate is reabsorbed by the renal tubules; PCT reabsorbs most of the useful substances.
Key relation
GFR ≈ 125 mL/min ≈ 180 L/day ; urine ≈ 1–1.5 L/day
Try this
Lower the reabsorption to 98%. How much urine would that make per day?
What you can change
- Glomerular filtration rate: 60 to 150 mL/min
- Water reabsorbed: 97 to 99.6 %
