Class 10 Chemistry simulations · Acids, Bases and Salts
Neutralisation: acid + base → salt + water
Add sodium hydroxide from a burette to 25 mL of hydrochloric acid with phenolphthalein, and follow the pH.
What to notice
The pH rises slowly, jumps sharply near 25 mL (neutral point) and the solution turns pink once it is basic.
Key relation
HCl + NaOH → NaCl + H₂O
Try this
Find the exact volume of NaOH at which the pink colour first appears.
What you can change
- NaOH added: 0 to 50 mL
