Galvanometer to ammeter or voltmeter
Add a small shunt for an ammeter or a large series resistance for a voltmeter.
What to notice
An ammeter needs a very low resistance; a voltmeter needs a very high one.
Key relation
Ammeter: S = I_gG / (I − I_g) ; Voltmeter: R = V/I_g − G
Try this
Convert to a 10 A ammeter, then to a 100 V voltmeter.
What you can change
- Convert to: choose Ammeter (shunt), Voltmeter (series R)
- Galvanometer resistance G: 10 to 200 Ω
- Full-scale current I_g: 1 to 10 mA
- Desired range: 1 to 100 A or V
