Photocell current vs anode voltage
Vary the anode voltage of a photocell. Intensity sets the saturation current; frequency sets the stopping potential.
What to notice
Brighter light raises the plateau but leaves the stopping potential unchanged.
Key relation
eV₀ = hf − φ ; I_sat ∝ intensity
Try this
Double the intensity, then raise the frequency instead.
What you can change
- Light frequency: 4 to 15 × 10¹⁴ Hz
- Intensity: 0 to 100 %
- Cathode: choose Sodium (φ = 2.28 eV), Caesium (φ = 2.14 eV), Zinc (φ = 4.31 eV), Copper (φ = 4.70 eV)
- Anode voltage: -5 to 10 V
