Refrigerator and heat pump
Pump heat from a cold box to a warm room. The ideal coefficient of performance depends only on the temperatures.
What to notice
The closer the two temperatures, the less work is needed to move each joule of heat.
Key relation
COP = Q_c / W = T_c / (T_h − T_c)
Try this
Set the freezer colder. How does the required power change?
What you can change
- Inside temperature: -30 to 15 °C
- Room temperature: 15 to 50 °C
- Heat removed per second: 50 to 500 W
