Class 12 Physics simulations · Electric Charges and Fields
Electric field on a ring axis
Move a probe along the axis of a uniformly charged ring and locate the strongest field.
What to notice
The field is zero at the centre and peaks at x = R/√2.
Key relation
E = kQx/(x² + R²)^(3/2)
Try this
Move the probe to about 0.71 times the ring radius.
What you can change
- Ring charge: 1 to 10 nC
- Ring radius: 0.1 to 1 m
- Axial position: -2 to 2 m
