Compound microscope
An objective makes a magnified real image; the eyepiece magnifies it further.
What to notice
Short focal lengths for both lenses and a longer tube give greater magnification.
Key relation
m = (L/f_o)(1 + D/f_e) or (L/f_o)(D/f_e)
Try this
Halve the objective focal length. Compare the change with halving f_e.
What you can change
- Objective focal length f_o: 0.4 to 2 cm
- Eyepiece focal length f_e: 1.5 to 6 cm
- Tube length L: 10 to 20 cm
- Final image: choose At near point (25 cm), At infinity (relaxed eye)
