Dispersion through a prism
Send white light through glass and separate its component colours.
What to notice
In normal dispersion, violet light has a larger refractive index and deviates more than red light.
Key relation
δ = i + e − A
Try this
Increase the dispersion coefficient and compare colour separation.
What you can change
- Prism apex angle: 30 to 60 °
- Index at 550 nm: 1.4 to 1.7
- Dispersion coefficient: 0.002 to 0.008 µm²
