Class 12 Physics simulations · Electromagnetic Induction
Current growth in an RL circuit
Close a circuit and watch an inductor oppose the rise in current.
What to notice
The inductor initially opposes the supply; its back emf falls as current approaches V/R.
Key relation
I = (V/R)(1 − e^(−tR/L))
Try this
Increase inductance and compare the time constant.
What you can change
- Inductance: 0.1 to 1 H
- Resistance: 5 to 40 Ω
- Supply voltage: 5 to 20 V
